CRANBERRY VODKA

Cranberry-Orange Vodka

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh
    or frozen cranberries

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, or 1
    vanilla bean, split

  • 2 oranges, peels cut into 2-inch
    strips

  • 1 (750-ml) bottle vodka

To serve:

  • 1 bottle tonic
    water

  • Lime slices, for garnish

Directions

Place
cranberries, sugar and vanilla in a medium saucepan. Place pan over
medium heat and stir. Simmer cranberry mixture until the berries
burst, about 5 to 6 minutes.

Place orange
peels in a large glass container with an airtight lid, or large mason
jars with lids. Pour vodka over the orange peels.

Allow the
cranberry mixture to cool. Pour the cooled mixture into the glass
container(s). Cover tightly and set aside for 1 week. After 1 week,
strain out the cranberries sand orange peels and pour mixture into a
clean bottle, using a funnel. Store vodka in the refrigerator.

To serve: Pour 2
ounces of vodka mixture over ice in a tall glass and top with tonic
water. Garnish with a slice of lime.

Crantini


Cranberry juice seems to go well with everything.  Not only is it the universal mixer, but it’s also packed with antioxidants and high in vitamins A, C and beta-carotene.

Unfortunately, we can’t say the same about vodka, but I figure if you combine the two, some of those positive health benefits will still apply, right?

2 OUNCES OF YOUR FAVORITE VODKA
3 OUNCES OF CRANBERRY JUICE
A SPLASH OF ORANGE LIQUEUR

Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with dried cranberries and a lemon wheel if desired.

CRANBERRY-RASPBERRY SANGRIA

INGREDIENTS:

1 (4UNCE) BOTTLE CRANBERRY-RASPBERRY JUICE COCKTAIL

1 (750-MILLILITER) BOTTLE, DRY, FULL-BODIED SPANISH RED WINE

2 TABLESPOONS GRAND MARNIER OR ORANGE JUICE

1/4 CUP SUGAR

1 ORANGE, THINLY SLICED

1 LEMON, THINLY SLICED

1 CUP FRESH CRANBERRIES OR FRESH RASPBERRIES

2 CUPS CLUB SODA, CHILLED

COMBINE FIRST 4 INGREDIENTS IN A LARGE PITCHER, STIRRING UNTIL SUGAR DISSOLVES.  ADD FRUIT SLICES AND CRANBERRIES; COVER AND CHILL FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS.  STIR IN CLUB SODA JUST BEFORE SERVING.
SERVE OVER ICE; GARNISH WITH CITRUS RIND CURLS.

YIELD: 12 1/2 CUPS

Frozen Cranberry Margarita

FROZEN CRANBERRY MARGARITA

 

INGREDIENTS:

5 ounces Ocean Spray® Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce
1 1/2 ounces white tequila
1 1/2 ounces lime juice
1/2 ounce triple sec
5 ounces crushed ice
Strawberry fan, garnish

DIRECTIONS:

Put all ingredients, except garnish, in a blender. Blend for a few seconds on high speed or until ingredients are thoroughly combined. Pour into a large glass. Garnish with a strawberry fan.
Makes 1 serving.

Olympic Cranberry Cocktail

And yet, another Olympic cocktail from Canada

Canada: Mulled Cranberry Cider with Rum

Serves approximately 10

2 quarts cranberry-apple juice or 1 quart each cranberry juiceand apple cider

1 orange, cut into wedges

4-5 cloves

½ lemon, cut into wedges

5 cinnamon sticks

1 to 2 tablespoons honey, to taste

1½ cups dark or golden rum

Stud the orange with cloves. Simmer all ingredients except therum in a slow cooker for at least 30 minutes or up to three hours.Add rum to individual servings, about a shot (or jigger) permug.


COSMOPOLITAN — from Bad Name Bistro


1/4 oz. Triple Sec (Cointreau)
2 oz. Vodka, lemon
1 1/2 oz. Cranberry Juice
1 splash Lime Juice

Mixing Instructions:
Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange twist and a couple of cranberries of course.

Makes 1 drink in either a martini glass or sparkling wine flute.

5 blackberries or black grapes
1-1/4 ozs. citrus vodka
3/4 oz. peach liqueur
2 ozs. white cranberry juice
Ice
1-1/2 ozs. champagne

1. Place spoonful of blackberries or black grapes in a chilled glass.

2. In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, peach liqueur and  whitecranberry juice with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into chilledglass. Top with champagne and serve.

Go For The Gold Martini

60 ml (2 oz) vodka

30 ml (1 oz) Cointreau

30 ml (1 oz) white cranberry juice

Touch of maple syrup

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a martini glass. For a wow factor sprinkle edible goldflakes over top.
